As believers we sometimes start to lose faith, we sometimes feel as though that God is not there or that He may have forgotten about us but, that is not the case. In this article, I will be sharing a few different ways that you can encourage and empower yourself in the Lord!
1. Remember Who God is
God is not a God of broken promises and lies but rather a God who is sovereign (Isaiah 25:8 NIV), never changing (Malachi 3:6 NIV), and truthful (John 14:6 NIV). God is also a God of love (1 John 4:8 NIV), and He is not unjust. (Hebrews 6:10 NIV)
2. Remember What God has done in your life
This is something that we often forget about, we tend to think about the things that didn't go right in our life or the negative things in our life when we don't even remember all of the victories and blessings that God has already presented in our life. Remembering what all God has done in our life even the small things bring us back to the first point of remembering who God is! Remembering what God has done in our life also brings about humbleness, being humble then allows God to exalt us when He sees fit. (1 Peter 5:6 NIV)
3. Read the Bible
Reading the Bible is something that is highly under rated, specifically when it comes to encouragement and empowerment. When you read the Bible, you are reading into the mind of God and what He has intended for humanity and within these pages are many scriptures and stories of encouragement! For example, look at the story of David and when the Amalekites raided Ziklag, during this time David encouraged himself in the Lord. "David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the Lord his God." (1 Samuel 30:6 NIV)
4. Pray
Prayer is a simple but effective tool. When you pray you are not only communicating to God what is on your mind and your heart but, you are also asking God to give you strength, to give you wisdom, to give you encouragement, and to give you guidance but, you aren't just praying and asking God to give you strength, wisdom, encouragement, and guidance you are praying and asking God for His strength, His wisdom, His encouragement, and His guidance.
5. Worship
Worship is another simple but powerful tool! When you Worship you are putting your focus on God instead of focusing on discouraging thoughts and situations. When you worship God, you are in fact silencing the enemy and the avenger. "Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger." (Psalms 8:2 NIV)
